Getting Started

Created on June 9, 2026.

To kick things off, I wanted to give a quick overview of what the goal of this project is, why I am passionate about this, and then give a bit of insight on the current work that I am doing.

Goals

Let’s introduce you to the goals that we have in place:

  • Provide workshops teaching the basics of software engineering.
  • Provide equipment for continued learning after the program.
  • Provide additional learning materials that the students can utilize.
  • Recruit previous students to mentor the next group.

Why?

There are many students out there that are very intelligent or have the drive to learn, but do not have the resources necessary to do it. Seeing students that have the potential and drive to become great engineers fall by the wayside due to limitations outside of their control. This harms not just the individual, but society as a whole.

As a software engineer that grew up in the Flint Area, I have a passion to help those in my community to find the resources to build their knowledge and break through those limitations.

Current Work

To get things off of the ground, I am currently working on a few things.

  1. Exploring either creating a non-profit or finding a non-profit that can help sponsor this project.
  2. Building the curriculum for the first set of students.
  3. Researching the initial costs on starting this up and how best to cover those requirements.
